Hotel Palomar Dallas Is Open for Business and Possibly, So Are Its Guests

On Monday, Dallas got another new boutique property when the Hotel Palomar Dallas opened in the Park Cities neighborhood.
This Kimpton joint (formerly the Mockingbird Hilton) is the chain's first foray into Texas and much like the W Dallas, the hotel features both rooms and residences along with a full-service spa and a swank restaurant, Central 214. Additionally, the hotel has decorated the place with Texans in mind:
As guests arrive, the style of our Dallas boutique hotel is readily apparent. Passing through the entry, guests gaze upward, taking in the 26-foot windows encasing the first floor. Hotel Palomar's open and airy lobby living room evokes the mood of a classic Texan landscape, boasting two-story ceilings, large wood floor panels underfoot and the grand fireplace, a Kimpton signature, as the room's focal point.
Kimpton also seems to think Dallas is full of horny people. We particularly love the photo above, found on the hotel site, which shows a pair of men's cowboy boots on the floor next to a pair of jeans with a big belt. The "lady" apparently stripped off her red dress and heels. That's so Dallas!
The residences are set to open in November but this weekend, if you find yourself bored in Dallas, check out the place for $249 a night. Oddly, the hotel is not offering any special introductory rates. Even Ian Schrager did this!
But it looks like the hotel's pay-for-WiFi trend is just for NYC, as this hotel offers the service for free for guests along with their standard evening wine tasting.
