HotelChatter || One Night at the Tribeca Grand Hotel

We recently stayed in room 410 at the Tribeca Grand Hotel in downtown Manhattan. Because we like to mix things up, we will break down our stay for you in a semi-traditional positives-negatives kind of way. Enjoy:

Tribeca Grand Hotel Positives:
·The hotel is downtown. Seriously, don't overlook this simple, yet important, fact. There just aren't that many quality hotels in downtown Manhattan.

·The lobby reminds us eighties era Hyatt--back when Hyatt lobbies were totally radical. We are suckers for an atrium lobby, so we found the Tribeca Lobby totally tubular. Oh, and yes, the elevators allow you to look down over the lobby as you ride skyward to your destination--glass elevator style.

·The service. Everyone was extremely nice, helpful, and attractive--yes physical appearance does matter. Furthermore, there was chocolate on our pillow, which we would like to see more of these days.

·Free WiFi. Ok, fine, they claim the free WiFi is only in the lobby, however, once you get the code from the hostess feel free to see how far the signal extends--hint: room 410 was at four bar strength.

·We love that, during your stay, Tribeca Grand and SoHo Grand offer you six to eight CDs to listen to on an in-room Bose sound system. In an age where FM radio is close to death, and iTunes is quickly becoming too upsell-centric--making random song discovery difficult, it is nice to be able to kick back and listen to a couple of random hotel provided CDs. Oh, and of course, we don't condone this, but ripping the CDs is completely possible, or so we are told.

·Herman Miller chairs for your working pleasure.

Tribeca Grand Hotel Negatives:
·The rooms need flat screen televisions. See our previous post.

·This hotel is located in what feels like the Bermuda Triangle of downtown Manhattan, making it a bit hard to find if you are on foot.

·The rooms are small, but not cramped.

·The price: Our price check for a October 9 - 11 stay returned $521.00. Yikes.
