Club Med is attempting to change the way we see can Cancun. It will take a major effort to swipe the Girls Gone Wild image that has been promoted over so many years, but Club Med might pull it off.

In their oh-so-French ways, Club Med explains that they completely changed the Cancun Yuctan's "raison d'etre." After closing for a year and pumping $24 million dollars into Club Med Cancun Yucatan, new design is met by new ideals. No longer an adult-only hotel, it is now extremely family-friendly.

The $24 million also means sleek design by the Marc Hertich Studio in Paris. After traveling extensively around the region, they have created a theme-appropriate design in honor of the area's cultural heritage. Meanwhile the family-friendly theme is pushed even more with the new Discovery Center:

As a "Discovery Resort" Club Med Cancun Yucatan encourages guests to experience the archeology, gastronomy and culture of Mexico. Trained and knowledgeable staff members at the resort's new Discovery Center facilitate excursions that emphasize respect and understanding for local cultures and environments.

The newly improved and expanded rooms start at $1190 for a 7-night, all-inclusive stay. The hotel should re-open on November 11th. As for the girls gone wild, we don't think you'll see them here as they never have nor never will be filled with raison d'etre.
