Angler's Resort in South Beach Angling for Ashton Kutcher?
South Beach's soon-to-open Angler's Boutique Hotel is eyeing a celebrity for their restaurant. Whether it's a star chef or a star owner, however, has yet to be decided.
Just when it seemed like a done deal for Dolce, the LA eatery owned by the "That 70s Show" troika consisting of Ashton Kutcher, Danny Masterson and Wilmer Valderrama, the Angler's hotel developer, Gregg Covin, said it wasn't so.
While the hotel has been talking to the Dolce dudes, it's not definite yet. "Although we have been talking to Ashton's restaurant among other high end restaurants, we actually have no signed a deal with anyone yet," Covin says. (Which may have been a wise choice after reading this review of Dolce in LA.)
We hear that another contender for the Angler's anchor is star chef Bobby Flay. One chef definitely not in the running is David Bouley, who has already set up shop at the Ritz Carlton South Beach, where his Evolution restaurant will debut in October. And if you ask any foodie on South Beach who they'd prefer, they all say the same thing: "As long as Nicole Richie doesn't open a restaurant there, we'll be happy," seems to be the general consensus.
