Bad Rate: Brookline Courtyard Marriott
[Ed. Note: This is the Bad Rate in our Good Rate/Bad Rate feature. The screenshot above was taken on August 8, 2006 and rates are subject to change. Enjoy.]
Let's see, you can stay at a brand new high-rise Westin for $149 a night, or in a suburban Courtyard by Marriott for...double the price?
You'd have to be a pretty hard-core Red Sox fan to think this is a deal. The Courtyard Marriott in Brookline, MA, a mile from Fenway Park, still has rooms available for Labor Day weekend--just like almost every other hotel in Boston. But $309 a night plus tax? That rate is higher than the Fairmont Copley Palace and only $90 less than the Ritz-Carlton. "No honey, we can't quite afford the Ritz, let's shave a tad off and stay at the...Courtyard Marriott."
Precluding a medical emergency that requires close proximity to Longwood Medical Center, we can't find any reason why a sane person would pay this amount. Open up your browser and you can find dozens of better deals in Boston.
