Exploring Eco-Hotels :: The Orchard Garden Hotel

Like we said yesterday, eco-hotels have taken off in San Francisco. The city's most anticipated eco-hotel, the Orchard Garden Hotel was scheduled to open this summer but now is set for October.
Hippies will be pacing in their Birks awaiting the day they can book a room in this place, which is the only hotel built in accordance with U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) standards.
The hotel will have 86 guest rooms, a rooftop garden and a restaurant that all incorporate modern technology and environmentally friendly design. In fact, the hotel has already received its "Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design" (LEED®) certification which is part of the Green Building Rating System.
Some of the amenities found inside the rooms, will include high-speed Internet and WiFi access, LCD flat panel television with DVD and CD player, along with organic bath products. Additionally, the hotel rooms will debut the first guestroom key card energy control system in San Francisco. Essentially, your room card will control all the electricity in the room, including the lights. The hotel will also use chemical-free cleaning products, recycled paper and soy-based inks and provide a 100% tobacco-free environment.
The only thing the hotel says will be more important than ecoism is service.
Our experienced hospitality team is ready to assist you with every need from valet parking, to concierge assistance, to complimentary morning Town Car service.
Hopefully that Town Car is a hybrid.
