Affinia Gardens Can Be Your Upper East Side Connection
Canada's Globe and Mail recently checked out the Affinia Gardens Hotel in Manhattan's Upper East Side. They explain that if you have stayed with friends who live in this upscale neighborhood, that the ambiance of the hotel should feel very similar to those high society co-ops. But, what about those of us who don't have friends in that hood?
The Affinia Gardens is set on providing a relaxing environment. That's why there's a tea bar rather than a martini bar; a tranquility room adjoined to the lobby, and a room full of ways to promote peace like a sketch book and colored pencils. What will keep you most sane and at ease however, will most likely be the sheer size of the rooms. More like mini apartments, the Affinia Gardens isn't your average Manhattan closet. The review reports that the place doesn't ooze haute design, but you'll at least have room to move around:
It's unlikely that fashionistas in search of the latest style will be content with the apartment-like suites at the Affinia Gardens. But for those who seek a comfortable bed and matching pillow, the latter selected from a three-choice menu, and an unusually large floor plan that includes a separate bedroom, a smartly if conservatively designed living room and a full kitchen, the hotel will suit to a T.
The rooms are also stocked with tranquility kits that include zen gardens, fluffy pillows, and New York City park guides. We wonder if they can provide us with friends in the neighborhood as well.
