South Beach Group Hotels Push Random Hook-Ups

Oh to be a student again. We're considering digging up our old college I.D.s to score the latest deal in Miami. Six hotels in South Beach Group Hotels are offering a free second night just for flashing that good ol' student I.D.

The promotion runs Sunday through Thursday now until September first, so students better plan their trips fast. It's not just a free night they'll score either, drinks are apparently free. This must be Miami's summer break revival, appealing to young wallets before they buckle down for class again.

As for us, the more we considered this promotion the more we realized that we'll leave our I.D.s in the closet storage where we last left them as the cheesiness of this promotion is almost sickening:

South Beach Group Hotels: Catalina, Chesterfield, Chelsea, Shelley, and Whitelaw want YOU to come party with us. Every night DJs are spinning in the lobby bars, where at 7 p.m. no need to have your wallets out, because drinks are free! After the "hook up" hour with an open bar, pick up a few random guys or girls and stumble to the nearest hot spots where bouncers will be waiting to let you through the velvet ropes. Our hotels are a great way to start and end the night. All of our hotels are meant for sharing.

"Hook Up Hour"? What happened to happy hour, now hotels are flat out promoting picking up a "random" person? Perhaps that is the point of many hotels out there but in the end, we prefer it be a little more discreet than this tacky affair.
