Live Blogging Gramercy Park Hotel :: Using Our Park Key

We wasted no time asking the front deskers for a Gramercy Park key, and they gave it to us without issue, even adding an "Enjoy". Other park key rules: bring the key back when you are done, but there is no time limit--fair enough.
Gramercy Park is one NYC's most exclusive parks, so having unfettered access to this green space is sweet. The park is full of plenty of older folks sitting on benches, and a few people walking along the gravel paths.
The grass is strictly off-limits and the list of rules posted within the park forbids bathing suits along with several other rules requiring proper behavior. If you are found in violation of these rules, you can be kicked out and no doubt if you are in GPH, Schrager will have some explaining to do to the park powers that be. Now that guests have park access will Gramercy Park turn into the Statue of Liberty, with gawking tourists and snapping shutters? Unlikely. You still gots to pay the hotels $550 cover charge to get in here, and remember there are only a dozen keys.
All in all, we feel privileged to have entered this sacred park and it's a nice respite from the city, but it is not like there is a helluva lot to do once you are inside the gates--guess that is the point, huh?
Next up, a Viewlicious Photo Shoot.
