The Ivy Hotel Gets Its 'Adult Playground' Ready

This fall The Ivy Hotel is set to open as a new luxury urban resort in San Diego's downtown Gaslamp Quarter.

The 159-room hotel, built from within an existing hotel at a cost of $75 million, will be a member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide collection, thanks to a signature suite which will include two levels and a spiral staircase that leads to a private poolside cabana. Aside from a rooftop pool, the hotel will have a restaurant and a four-level nightclub.

Since San Diego is known for its ultra-laidback style and scene, this hybrid of Las Vegas, New York and LA hotels will be a different kind of hotel experience. Said one hotel spokesperson:

We are creating an adult playground where the guest experience will be 100 percent focused on luxury, pleasure and decadent surprises.

Looks like it will give the Hotel Solamar's rooftop JBar and the W's Beach Bar, also rooftop, a run for their money.

Rates are expected to start at $400 with suites ranging from $700 to $2,000.
