Borgata Poker Room Opens Just as NJ Shuts Down Casinos

How unfortunate for the Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. The hotel just unveiled their brand-spanking-new poker room on June 30 with a full line-up of poker tourneys set for the summer.
Sadly, the Jersey government will be shutting down its operations over a failure to agree on a budget and are ordering the casinos to close as well. The closures are expected for Wednesday.
The head of the Casino Control Commission ordered gaming in Atlantic City to cease at 8 a.m. Wednesday - the day after the July Fourth holiday - if New Jersey fails to enact a budget by then.
Atlantic City's 12 casinos, which require state monitoring, have waged a court battle to remain open, and an appeals court was weighing the matter Sunday.
Additionally, if the state fails to agree on a budget (and that doesn't look like its happening anytime soon) the state parks, beaches and historic sites are expected to shut down too.
