JDV Hospitality Won't Leave California
After a successful opening of Hotel Angeleno in Los Angeles, JDV Hospitality is in talks to open up two more Southern California properties.
[T]he new properties are the Strand, in Huntington Beach (Orange County), a 149-room four-star hotel scheduled to open in early 2008; and the Redondo Beach, in Redondo Beach (Los Angeles County), a 200-room hotel that will include a spa and restaurant, scheduled to open in 2008. Joie de Vivre will own and operate the Redondo Beach; it will have a management contract to run the Strand.
Prior to Angeleno, JDV had strictly San Fran-area hotels. And the hotel chain is also currently seeking to renovate a historic high-rise in Sacramento into a hotel as well.
Naturally, we are wondering what JDV's Chip Conley has in store for the rest of the U.S., namely will a JDV open up in NYC? Unfortunately, that seems improbable as Conley wants to keep his hotels in the Golden State as a way to make "his 19-year-old company unique, make it simple to brand and give it a high profile."
