Hotel Spas Get Creative In Their Ways To Touch You
In keeping up with the trends, it's the hotel spa that's getting the most attention these days.
Spas in hotels are getting so big that they are coming up with absurd treatments just to add to their menu, yet for some reason we don't seem to question them or their prices. When on vacation, what better time to get a kiwi-lime-ginger mudwrap while having calming oils rubbed into our heads for a couple hundred bucks?
Some hotels were made as full-service resorts with their spas adequately planned for, others simply had to add theirs in somewhere.
Forbes recently wrote about the phenomenon and mentioned a hotel who had to get creative to find the space to add their spa, Hotel Gansevoort. The spa here was added into the basement and doubles as a bar/lounge (already a big hit with celebs) which is curious as masseuses always barked the importance of drinking water after a massage. Never do we remember having to slurp up a martini or two to maximize the results.
How about the spa products that the Ritz Carlton now uses? None other than Prada. Pretty much the most upscale brand they could have included for what would otherwise of course, just be mundane soap. We wonder who will have the first La Mer cream bath? In solid gold nonetheless.
Attempts to get the hotel spa more attention include hunting down the all-elusive male. And where else to find him than on the golf course? Apparently that is the thought at Corde Valle, a Rosewood Resort in San Martin, California, as Forbes explained, with their:
'Pre-Shot Routine' massage that can be done anywhere from the driving range to the 18th hole of its course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Therapist and chair will show up regardless of where a player is on the course--the idea being that once bitten, golfers will flock to spa central for such treatments as `Nearest Point of Relief,' to alleviate tension and tight muscles, or a pre-game upper-body treatment called `Starting Time.'
Bottom line is, we love our fruity mud baths so longs as its by Prada, we'll give props to a hotel for having a spa even if its in the bar, and men will work it into their schedules as long as its worked into theirs. This is the beauty of accommodation. Speaking of which, time to have our seaweed kelp gel cap taken off.
