Of All The Italian Restaurants To Try...

The New York Post has to recommend the one at the Hilton in Rome.
But let us back track here. The paper spotlights the frequent American travel to Italy with 4 million Americans passing through last year. Now that it's high tourist season there, the paper outlined some things you should do and see when visting Italy.
When in Rome, the paper says, Americans often struggle with the decision to either hit up small and privately run Italian inns or stick to the major chains for dinner.
Our pick would be the mom and pop places because we want to taste some spaghetti sauce that's just like Momma used to make. But the Post insists that it's Rome's Cavalieri Hilton that has the "poshest" restaurant in Italy.
While we were skeptical, it looks like La Pergola, the three-star Michelin rated rooftop garden restaurant does offer some amazing views of the city that you might not find at another restaurant. And hands-on waiters as the picture above shows them working on cutting a salt-encrusted fish.
But one guest says they didn't try the restaurant's traditional Italian fare while there:
We didn't eat at the hotel as another reviewer mentioned earlier there is a restaurant down the road from the hotel called I Vespri Siciliani which was excellent and was full of Hilton guests when we were there.
So even the poshest restaurant has some competition.
As for the hotel itself, the Hilton is out of town a bit in a private 15-acre park on top of a hill in the residential area of Montemario. The rooms also provide views of the entire city plus the Vatican, tons of space, Wifi and DVD players and a few more restaurants and bars to add to the mix.
In the spirit of being an American in Rome, it looks like you could do the entire Roman holiday from within the confines of an American hotel. Whether or not you think you should, is up to you.
