Crackberry Addicts Have Hope
You know that your obsession with your Blackberry is ruining the muscle in your right thumb. Your girlfriend left you back when you brought the nifty handheld device that makes call AND receives emails into bed. Your dog ran away because you were too busy playing Brick Breaker to feed him.
You have a problem.
And Sheraton Chicago wants to help you overcome this nasty addiction that has alienated all your loved ones and sent you on a downward spiral.
That's because general manager Rick Ueno once had the same addiction.
"It was a big problem. It was actually becoming unhealthy," he said. "I just could not stop. I could not stop myself from always wanting to check what was happening."
After kicking the device "cold turkey" Ueno decided to offer to lock up guests Blackberries when they stay at his hotel in hopes that they will quit their dependency. When guests hand over their Blackberry, Ueno keeps it stored in a locked cabinet free of charge.
While we applaud Ueno's efforts to help fellow sufferers, we fear this situation could go terribly wrong with all that temptation around him. It can start out innocently with just one email with Ueno saying, "That's it and then no more forever." It will soon escalate into a 10-minute web-browsing session then onto a 45-minute Brick Breaker game and from there it's downhill.
