Battle of the Strip Shows: LOVE vs. Le Reve

The war between Cirque du Soleil founder Guy LaLiberte and his former partner, Franco Dragone has heated up again.

LaLiberte is currently previewing Cirque's newest show, a Beatles musical called "LOVE", at the Mirage while Dragone, the man behind "Le Reve" at Wynn Las Vegas is "on the ropes" with Steve Wynn himself.

According to Robin Leach, Dragone "was summoned by private jet" to meet Wynn upon his return from Macau and there was some sort of a showdown with Wynn planning on taking "creative control" of the show himself in an effort to stop the ticket loss to "LOVE."

In a bid to battle The Beatles onslaught, Wynn wants more than half of his theater-in-the-round water show changed over the next seven months in time for New Years in a massive overhaul that will add Hollywood special effects, lavish laser lighting and rock-group pyrotechnics!

Meanwhile, previews of "LOVE" are already the talk of the town (even though it doesn't officially open until June 30) and will surely be the Mirage's biggest hit since that whole tiger incident.

The cast was so excited about their first preview show that at the after-party, they threw top Cirque executives fully-clothed into the hotel pool. Those crazy carnies!
