The Maritime Hotel has a nifty little outdoor patio attached to its La Bottega restaurant and bar that's surprisingly nautical theme free.

When the weather's nice the place is a great spot to relax with friends and sip a drink or two. But despite the friendly waitstaff, the hotel management has a bit of an issue with large groups of people on the patio as a recent tipster found out.

Even though there were hardly any other people outside on the patio, our tipster's group of friends were repeatedly admonished for a variety of things.

We were constantly told to keep our group along one side of the patio, with the young manager stating a fire code. Another rule was that you could not stand up and smoke a cigarette. You had to sit down. Apparently, this is also a NYC "fire code."

We bet this fire code rule doesn't apply during fashion week though.
