[Ed. Note: Welcome to our Good Rate/Bad Rate feature where we look at hotel prices in the same city and decide which is better worth your hard-earned benjamins. The screenshot here was taken on June 27, 2006 and rates are subject to change.]

First things first. This good rate for the Sofitel Madrid Plaza de Espana is one of those no-cancellations-allowed types of deals, but for 116 Euros a night, you can stay in guarranteed plush comfort.

The hall is elegant, the room quite spacious, the bathroom spotless (with very good amenities), but the thing I will always remember about this hotel is the BED!!A heavenly soft, comfortable, enormous bed, with soft duvet cover and immaculate crispy sheets, a tons of pillows: my best sleep in a hotel's room.

So if you can be sure you won't need to cancel your hotel room, this Sofitel might be a good bet. And if you do get robbed in the neighborhood, at least you can sleep on a comfortable bed.
