I closed my eyes, took a deep breadth and slowly felt the gentle hands of the masseurs rub the oils deep into my pores. As I felt my muscles open up to the experienced touch, my mind ascended into a state of Nirvana where there was no pain only sheer pleasure. This was an exploration of the self and beyond, of life and thereafter, deep within and endless.
A quick Smoked Salman flavoured in a tangy Cocktail Sauce and a Fine Sherry at the vibrant multi-cuisine Treasure Trove Restaurant, a restaurant with a view and I was ready for a stroll in the lobby.
The frescos took me to Rome. The Ravi Verma paintings beckoned me to unravel the mysteries of Kerala art. The religious wooden carvings and Tanjore paintings made my hands fold in prayer to Vishnu - the God of Life. The model of a 'Tall Ship', the sea-man's battles painted on the walls made me smell the salty air, hear the seagulls cry and feel the spray of sea water as the ships bow plunged through the waters in a happy whirl of the sails.
The elephant carvings, the urli (big brass bowl) on the floor with the floating flowers and the light of the Ayirathrivilaku (lamp of thousand lights) was an honour for this was the traditional Kerala welcome.
And finally there was the majestic Ford, silently preening herself under my loving touch as my eyes caressed her curves from Bonnet to Bumper.
The Shopping Arcade was a foray in desires. As I browsed the Swarovzki and admired the Glada, my heart clenched with desire, each treasure promising to make my day exquisite. An afternoon siesta on the pool bed under the loving gaze of the warm sun followed by a cup of herbal tea was just what the relaxation gurus recommended. The flaming sunset painted across the clear sky over the backwaters was sheer poetic beauty.
The enigmatic tug of the saxophone, the soothing beat of the accompanying Table; They say that the Saxophone does plays to the heart not the ears. I sat in the lobby and felt the musician,s melodies pull me, bind me, compel me and yearn for me. I remembered the forgotten, felt the present and smiled at the future. A tear rolled down my cheek for there was no being, only music. This was the true face of India, where all was remembered and nothing forgotten, where each flowed into the other until there was only one.
Tandav, Kerala's only nightclub, was named after Shiva, the dancing Natraja. With each step he took, he scattered the stars into space. With each movement of his outstretched arms, he enveloped space and time. With his long hair flying in the wind, he danced in ecstasy, to the delight of his devotees.
Designed with European and New York pub elements, Tandav, is decorated in contemporary style with expanses of vibrant colors throughout. This was not just a nightclub - I had to visit to discover it. The experience was more than just clubbing, it was the creation of an atmosphere.
A stroll down the star-lit pathway with the moon for company, A short picturesque, romantic boat ride on the backwaters and I was at the Le Meridien Towers. Glass, majestic views, light, colour and art, it is all about being Fashionably luxurious in beautiful, pristine environs. Large windows in every room offered an insight into the best Kerala had to offer. Her natural beauty and then it was time to dream a little dream in the plush comforts of the Le Meridien.
