Some more good news for downtown San Diego. The historic U.S. Grant Hotel is currently undergoing a $52 million renovation and will re-open as part of Starwood's Luxury Collection on November 1.

The 1910 hotel which has hosted 13 U.S. presidents and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has been empty for the past year and a half. Indeed when we checked in on the place in January, the building looked rather abandoned with the room windows fully opened but all entrances boarded up.

Luckily the place didn't go the way of Hotel San Diego, which was imploded in April. When Starwood reopens the hotel, it will feature 270 guest rooms and 47 suites, a rooftop terrace, fitnes center, business center and the Grant Grill restaurant which will have been renovated as well.

Surely, this will help San Diego stay classy.
