It's probably hard to believe but there are things to do outside of the Las Vegas strip besides gambling, shows, drinking and strippers.

Like golf. The Travel Golf blog says that Vegas golf courses won't be too crowded during this big holiday weekend and suggests playing TPC Canyons golf course.

Check out the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa which is partnered with the TPC Canyons course and even has rooms overlooking the greens. Most or all rooms have jacuzzis and private patios. And of course, the pool scene is important.

The pool situation is very nice. It is quite large, with two oversized 24-hour hot tubs, a poolside bar and restaurant, an adjacent sand volleyball court, and frequent cocktail service. It was not overrun with kids by any means and seemed to have plenty of lawn chairs for the taking. We never had a problem getting a seat and the hotel was full all weekend.

Travel time to the strip is about 15 minutes and if you get lucky during craps, you can blow your winnings on a round at the Wynn which go for $500.
