Hackers Can't Book Online at Hotel Pennsylvania

HOPE for hackers means Hackers On Planet Earth and their annual conferences each year draws thousands of "computer hackers, phone phreaks, net activists, and government spooks" together to learn and share new tricks of the trade.

However, the hackers can't book rooms online at the Hotel Pennsylvania (where the conference is being held) because the hotel is undergoing some "upgrading" to its computer system. Thus forcing the techie geeks to actually pick up a phone and speak to a real live person.

But the HOPE-ies have learned tolerance for organizations not quite computer skilled as they are:

Yes, we know that almost anyone attending our conference could probably do a better job of installing a new computer system. We're choosing to look at this as an example of "old world charm.

We can't help but wonder if this hotel's computer upgrading around the time of the conference was a coincidence or not.

Either way, the hackers are getting a hotel room in NYC for $145 a night. That's a steal!
