Amazing Race 9 Hotel Report: Fun Down Under

The crew flew from Africa to Perth, Australia where they had to spend a quick night at the Old Fire Station Backpackers Hostel in Fremantle. Upon seeing the bunk beds, the Ambiguously Gay Duo's Eric quickly yelled, "I got bottom!" And the youthful atmosphere of the hostel probably prompted Fran and Barry (aka the Old Couple) to mention how Amazing Race has ruined their sex life. Or maybe it was because they entered a room called the Pleasure Dome.

The hostel offers rooms with free internet for $17 a night, security lockers and parking. Also, if you're in Australia this summer, the place plans on constructing an "outdoor cinema" during the World Cup.

However, if hostels make you quiver, then check out the Cape Lodge Hotel in neighboring Perth, a Small Luxury Hotel of the world, that overlooks the Margaret River. There's 22 suites (rather than 22 people in a hostel hallway) with modern facilities and an over-water restaurant serving local wines.
