Jock Jam Hotels: Loews Santa Monica

Where do athletes stay when they are on the road--for work and for pleasure? In the spirit on the ongoing NBA Playoffs, we'll be reporting on the hotels favored by professional athletes, starting with the Denver Nuggets.
The Nuggets arrived in Los Angeles on Friday night and checked-in to the Loews Hotel Santa Monica right next to the famous Santa Monica Pier.
And unlike the the Crown Prince who had 100 Mercedes waiting outside, the basketball team arrived in two big buses. Guests at the hotel spotted team members Carmelo Anthony (with huge headphones on), Kenyon Martin, and pint-sized Earl Boykins.
The next day, as the team left the hotel for their first game against the Los Angeles Clippers, they shuffled out to the buses in the practice shorts, wearing socks with sandals and carrying either their shoes or their man cosmetic bags.
The team ended up losing the game perhaps because of the hotel's thin walls? One guest recently stayed there for 10 days and had this to say:
The people staying in the room next to us were always yelling at their kids and one of the kids was very whiney. This was a daily occurrance at 8:00AM and around 7PM. The parents would stand in the hall and reprimand the son or each other!
The hotel also is notorious for not having the rooms ready at check-in time. But they do make up for it with either room upgrades or a complimentary bottle of wine.
