Hotel Openings: Red Rock Las Vegas

Today, the Red Rock Resort opens in Las Vegas, hoping to convince strip-goers that there are other things in Vegas besides the nightlife, like nature.

Located west of the strip near the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, the nearly billion dollar property is the sister hotel to Green Valley Ranch, maybe the only other acceptable off-strip lodging. Red Rock has a casino, spa, movie theaters, nature activities and randomly, a Randy Gerber bar, Cherry.

Overall I'd place the look and feel at just at or below a W Hotels level of urban coolness, albeit gradually morphing into a more easygoing, lowbrow look on the locals side - after all, you don't want to scare off the Vegas grannies.

Introductory rates of $129 are being offered but based on availability and we don't see any days open with that rate. $155 looks like your cheapest bet.
