Amazing Race 9 Hotel Report: Greece
[Ed. Note: We had mistakenly given the wrong hotel web site in our original story. The correct web site is now in place, but beware there are two Poseidon Palace Hotels in Greece--this one in Leptokaria and another one in Patras. If you have reviews on either place, send 'em our way and sorry for the mix-up.]
The Amazing Racers have finally left Sicily and after a quick sojourn for some product placement in Rome (The DaVinici Code: Coming to theaters next month!), they were dropped into Athens, Greece.
From there, the racers made their way in pouring rain to the Ancient Stadium where the hippie team shows off their pseudo-Greek wrestling skills and Lake has a terrible for his wife but great for reality TV breakdown.
The pit stop on this leg was at the Fortress of Rion. After it was all said and done, we hope that the Racers were not forced to spend a night at Poseidon Palace Hotel, a supposed five-star joint but with rooms similar to those found in a three-star.
The beach is not what it seems and is full of medium size rocks as you enter (nothing like the sandy beach we saw at the brochure.) As for the sun tan chairs, well they charge you 3 Euros per day! The rooms are typical of a 3* Greek hotel (you are supposed to be a in 5* hotel!) with rough cement walls painted white...And since the recreation area is located next to the pool you cannot get a peaceful moment from the loud speakers of the outdoors aerobics class.
On the other hand, maybe Lake just needs some good old 80s aerobics moves to shake him out of his funk.
As usual, our attention-hogging little brother, Jaunted, has the complete Chasing Racers map.
