We understand that some people pay for the luxury and the service they get at the Four Seasons San Francisco and you will probably need some comforting when you realize that almost every other hotel charges less for a standard room.

Currently, the Four Seasons in the middle of Union Square charges $415 for a "moderate room" on the weekend and $430 during the week. But when they institute their price hike next January, rooms will go up to $460.

The Ritz Carlton goes for $330.  The Clift Hotel has rooms for $205. Even the W Hotel is not a rip-off with a starting room rate of $229.

However, if you do insist on Four Seasons pampering (and expensive wireless/internet access), look for their Holiday Packages which will bring the room rate down to $355 and at least request the right view as one guest recommends:

I would recommend a room on the Market Street side of the hotel - the other side is considered 'Bay View' but to me looks more like a ship yard.
