Condé Nast Hot List: Four Cheers for U.S.A.

April 11, 2006 at 2:39 PM | 0 Comments

Out of 60 hotels on the Conde Nast Traveller Hot List for 2006, four of them are on U.S. soil.

The Sunset Tower Hotel gets a nod because of "the pool and sun loungers, the spa, which has outdoor cabanas for treatments, and the bustling Tower Bar and restaurant, which serves light Californian cuisine." No mention of the six TV channels though.

St. Regis San Francisco has barely moved out of its beta phase but gets a mention for its "intelligently hi-tech" rooms and the team of 12 butlers who can give you a guided tour of the hotel's extensive modern-art collection. However, Condé Nast did think the restaurant was overpriced and the staff still learning the ropes.

And lastly, the Standard Hotel Miami and the Setai make the list. The Setai gets on for its "new standards for sophistication and service in a city renowned for its world-class hotels" (may we add Ugg boots?) while the Standard gets noticed for its Turkish hamman and "a sexy clientele who are welcome to stay late into the evening, creating a different kind of lounge scene in South Beach."

Aside from bestowing hotness on hotels across the world, The Hot List also tells you what time of year to visit a certain hotel and what room to book. The only problem is navigating through the pesky pop-up ads for Vegas.com.
