The New York Post reports that Vikram Chatwal had to skip his honeymoon in the Maldives because of an arm injury

Chatwal told pals the injury was from "too much partying," explaining that he pinched a nerve after falling asleep on the appendage. [He] skipped his island honeymoon to fly back to New York for physical therapy.

Bad news for Vikram's bride but good news for us--it appears he opened the Night Hotel this week--the trilogy is complete. Things are still hush-hush over at Night, but we seem to be in the midst of a soft opening. We called and asked for a room tonight, and though it sounded like we were calling outer space, the kind lady on the phone quoted us $219 for a full bedroom.

The room was available tonight! This means Vikram beat our projected opening of May 1st by a full 50+ days, and officially became the first hotel on our 2006 NYC hotel openings preview to take paying guests. Before you get too excited Vikram was suppose to open this place back in October, but hey, first we hear our first ever positive review on DreamNY and now Vikram opens Night, maybe marriage agrees with Vik. Either that or Vikram has figured out that it isn't that hard to fool those silly tourists who stay near Times Square.

Thrillist has updates on the hotel's alcoholic tendencies such as the lobby's ornate liquor cabinet filled high-end spirits that start at $40 a glass. Room service will also bring bottles to you door at any time and the lounge will have two brandy flights, two exclusive beers from Brooklyn's Six Points Brewery, and "1/2 bottle service."

Big time bonus points for the first person who posts a photo of the giant "N", if it exists, here.

Of course, we will continue to follow the Night opening closely.

    Color me skeptical

I'll remain suspicious until I hear of somebody actually staying there.  When Dream first "opened" I booked a room through Travelocity only to arrive and find there were no rooms ready, also no doors or windows installed either.

What's worse, Travelocity relocated me to a neabry HoJos, referring to it as a comparable property.

    Vikram owes me.

    Smart Move

Just looking at the black & white photos of these rooms is giving me a headache.

Mabye Vik is hoping to hypnotize the guests this time.

Going on past Chatwal history, it is probably best to look at Night with a bit of healthy skepticism.

Can't believe they made you stay at HoJo's!
