We have never needed an escape from LA more than we do right now. The whole town has been crazy for the past week with actors, assistants, stylists, agents and other A-listers whipping the place into a frenzy before the Oscars. Not to mention we had a couple of rainy days and everyone knows that Angelenos cannot function in wet weather.

With our last "trips" taking place in two busy cities--Paris and Tokyo--this time our Escape from LA is taking us to a place where we can just chill. Which is why we are headed to Hotel Bora Bora in the French Polynesian Islands--just an eight and a half hour flight away. And we are throwing down the big bucks for one of their fifteen overwater bungalows.

Sitting over the resort's blue lagoon, the thatched-roof bungalows offer unbelievable views of both marine life below and the volcanoes in the near distance.

Each bungalow has a king-size, four-poster bed, bathroom, a two-tiered sundeck and an outdoor shower. We're so stressed right now we don't even care that the rooms have no TVs.

The hotel has tons of activities to do ranging from a snorkeling trip to a ride through the jungle to outrigger sailing expeditions. But that might be too much for us. We would be perfectly happy jumping off our balcony into the private lagoon and baking in the sun on the private beach.

The hotel restaurant Matira Terrace restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner but is the only restaurant there, which could force us to cut our trip short. We don't care how good coconut water is...sometimes you just want a Mountain Dew. There is also a famous restaurant called Bloody Mary's nearby that everyone seems to rave about and is worth eating one meal there.

Renting a car is doable if you are feeling ambitious and since the island is only 18 miles big, a trip around once or twice shouldn't tire you out, but it might tire your chauffer. And with an overwater bungalow what else is there to do but order an in-room massage?

However, since the hotel is rather expensive--about $1,000 a night NOT including food--we might consider bringing along another person and pretending it's a honeymoon trip since this is where most newlyweds go and we could feel a little left out.

But it's not like we dare plan on leaving our overwater bungalow.
