2010 Olympics: The Hotel Race Begins

Just when we think the Olympic hype is over, it starts again.
Get ready for Winter Olympics 2010 in Vancouver, complete with inflated room prices.
High season rates for one hotel are about $289, but for the total Olympic package expect to pay $1,400 a night. A platinum hotel-flight package with Regina Tours is going for $25,999.
The package includes everything BUT Olympic event tickets.
That includes a round-trip flight to Vancouver from anywhere in Canada or the U.S., a limo ride from the airport, 18 nights at the Delta Vancouver Suites Hotel and a reception.
Hmm...if we were to shell out practically a year of college tuition, we'd like to see some tickets!
Luckily this could be the only tour company behaving badly as Vancouver 2010 will launch a program that will "encourage hotels to keep rates reasonable."
