Hotel Hype: Gansevoort West and South

March 30, 2006 at 8:45 AM | 0 Comments

It's been a while since we last heard what was happening with Hotel Gansevoort two upcoming properties. The NYC meat-packing district hotel is simultaneously promoting its Gansevoort West (in Los Angeles) and Gansevoort South (in Miami) at the same time.

Just two blocks down from the Setai, the Gansevoort South is currently under construction, as we reported last November, and is expected to open in time for next year's high season in January 2007.

The joint will feature 233 guestrooms and 102 condo units, along with 259 condo units being sold under the Paradiso Miami name. However, these units will still get all the benefits and services of the Gansevoort.

In traditional Gansevoort tradition, the hotel will have a "110-foot ocean view rooftop swimming pool on a 24,000-square-foot palm tree fringed teak rooftop deck" in addition to a tri-level beach club, a second infinity-edge pool, and a DavidBarton Gym + Spa.

Gansevoort's West Coast plans after the jump.

Gansevoort West in downtown Los Angeles will be built within the legendary Embassy Hotel, once a former concert hall that hosted some of the world's legendary jazz players.

The renovated hotel is expected to be done in summer 2007 and will house 170 hotel rooms and suites "furnished with old Hollywood panache." Of course, there will be rooftop pool but this has a little twist. It will be a 48-foot outdoor glass bottom rooftop pool, featuring underwater lights and music, stretching over one of two restaurants. Yes, this means as you do your daily breastroke the diners eating breakfast can see everything you do underwater.

Because this is Hollywood, the hotel will have a tri-level theater for concerts and performances that can seat 1,800 and will be filled with $25 million of Tiffany glass. Two more rooftop lounges, a restaurant and a 6,500-square-foot-spa and fitness center round out the hotel amenities.
