Ok, yeah, this place is old as dirt. But hey, you are gonna see a lot of dirt in Cairo, so get used to it.

The Oberoi Mena House hotel, on the grounds of an old hunting lodge, is within walking distance of the Pyramids at Giza, the Sphinx, and that famous Giza Pizza Hut.

Some people complain about the con artists and tchotchke schills that roam the pyramid grounds, but if you travel smart you can probably avoid trouble. Besides, at the Oberoi Mena House you can just lock the door of your colonial 'Palace' Wing room, order room service, and stare at the pyramids from a safe distance. Oh, and the hotel has 24/7 security, so that should put the edgy a little more at ease.

Bottom line? You know we are suckers for hotel with a killer view, and the sightline from Mena House is tough to beat.

History buffs take note, Churchill loved this property, so much so the hotel named a suite after him.
