Amtrak Hotel In Baltimore

The days of missing one's train and being forced to sleep on a wooden bench in the station's main hall might soon be a thing of the past. We hear that the nation's favorite train company is revisiting plans to open a boutique hotel inside Baltimore's Penn Station.

Amtrak is the answer for those East Coasters who opt to commute from city to city without road-rage and baggage checks.

This would be an Amtrak-station first. Due to severe financial problems, despite the jacked-up rail fares they charge, the company feels the need to maximize its property values. And they have decided to focus on Baltimore. Already, the company is seeing how the former offices for Amtrak police, customer service and maintenance workers on the upper floors will be turned into hotel rooms.

Unfortunately, the location leaves something to be desired, as it is far away from the central business district, and most guests probably won't have cars.

We tried to call Amtrak (1 (800) USA RAIL) for a comment, but all we got was Julie-- the automated lady who assists your call by asking you to say monosyllabic commands.
