The Poor Man's Caribbean

Budget Travel Online offers up good tips on how to score day passes to some of the Caribbean's swanky (and clean) beach resorts without paying the extravagant room rates. You can also get lunch, pool access, tennis courts, beaches, snorkeling activities and everyone's favorite--swim-up bars.

Below are some choices for Antigua yet the article lists resorts in Bonaire, Cozumel, St. Kitts, and St. Lucia.

At the Grand Royal Antiguan Beach Resort, $45 will get you half a mile of secluded beach, a gym, Internet café, and pool with swim-up bar.

For $5 more at the Occidental Grand Pineapple Beach you can get both breakfast and lunch, aerobic lessons (if you miss the 80s), volleyball, tennis, two pools and snorkeling gear.

At Sandals Antigua Caribbean Village & Spa the price goes up to $100 but you and your partner can take naps in two-person hammocks, walk along secluded paths, dip in and out of the five pools and hot tubs, and join in various water sports and activities like scavenger hunts. Sorry singletons. You must come in pairs since this is a couples resort only.
