The W New Orleans gave their guests front row action during Mardi Gras, as the parades went right in front of the hotel.

This W, and its French Quarter counterpart, were spared from the flood waters, but had its fare share of damage: broken windows, water damage.

Still, the hotel's morale and spirit remained intact. Since September, the general manager and staff moved into the undamaged rooms and worked diligently to get the hotel ready for Mardi Gras. Not all 420 rooms were open during the festivities but the hotel anticipates that they will be full open again at the end of March.

Sure some people complained about cold eggs and toast, but it looks like walking through that blue glowing microwave thing might cure that ill.

    Ok...

Totally inappropriate, but what is up with that glowing entrance?

I can't decide--is it from the fortress of solitude?  Or is this some sort of "boutique" metal detector.
