Pomeranc Understands our 'Tribal' Needs

February 27, 2006 at 3:30 PM | 0 Comments

Jason Pomeranc of Thompson Hotels has gone into partnership with BlackBook to produce Room 100, (named after the penthouse suite at 60 Thompson) a lifestyle magazine which will focus on "progressive culture and icons in the making" in the arts, fashion and nightlife industries. Naturally, the mag will focus on the interests of Thompson guests who he called, "tribal in nature," and "demographically diverse but progressive in their tastes." He's hoping this magazine will connect with them.

Pomeranc also likened the experience of putting together a lifestyle mag with that of growing a hotel boutique.

"I find that hotels have become lifestyle laboratories for everyone these days, a place where people view things as aspirational. Hotels used to be about 'I want you to feel at home.' Now, it's about 'I want you to feel like you.

Sadly, this coffee-table-esque book will have no legs to stand on per Cosmo Kramer's suggestion and it will mean extra work for the editorial staff of the BlackBook magazine.

BlackBook president Ari Horowitz said of the staff's extra workload, "In all seriousness, it's very exciting for them." Yes, it's all fun and games until Pomeranc traps you in his hotel laboratory and starts his unethical tribal testing on you.
