It's a wise old tried and true saying: what happens in Cabo, stays in Cabo. But when TripAdvisor discovered The Bungalows Hotel in Cabo San Lucas, they voted the hotel one of 2005's Best Hidden Gem as well as one of the Best Bargain hotels.

So what is so special about this place?

For starters, there is only 16 bungalows which means privacy and peace as opposed to a resort place favored by the cast of "Laguna Beach." Each bungalow is air-conditioned with a kitchenette, private bath, purified water, and authentic Mexican furnishings. Most of them overlook the hotel's salt-water pool.

The hotel is family-run and staff is completely hands-on with all its guests. Plus you wake-up each morning to a freshly-made gourmet by Chef Estela.

The only downside to the hotel is that it is slightly out of town:

About a 5-10 minute walk from the main strip. There is a small hill but nothing too strenuous. If you are looking to spend time on the beach then you'll have a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute taxi ride to Medano beach.

The other downside? Trying to get a reservation as this place is almost always full. But if you can swing it, the price is more than right, with rates starting at $135.
