Is anyone else noticing that the two newest hot hotels in SF are all decked out in earth tones? The NY Times' checked into St. Regis, San Francisco, which opened last November on Third and Mission.

The rooms are draped in beige and technology. Although the Times contests that Cypress terry towels and robes dwarf all other amenities... it was also the reviewer's first time encountering a touch screen-room-controling device. For those of you not in the know, these hotel room "control boards" are the must-haves of 2006.

If you want more human contact that just pushing buttons, there's always the St. Regis butler service.

Several recent guests rave about the service and other hotel amenities with their only complaint being they didn't want to leave their rooms.

But, come on St. Regis, for $399 a night, internet access should be free instead of charging $14.95 a day--in our humble opinion.
