Hotel Blog Watch: Special Double Edition

December 21, 2006 at 10:31 AM | by | Comments (0)

It's been a while since we last gave you a Hotel Blog Watch, so this time around we are giving you a two-for-one deal. The first hotel blog is the The Fowley Hotel, whose blog details life at the hotel in Cornwall. For instance, right now the hotel is very excited about Christmas.

Our hotel staff Christmas Party took place at our sister hotel, The Falmouth last weekend (10th December). We joined forces and had a combined party with 2 of our other hotels, The Idle Rocks and The Metropole. As expected heaps of fun was had by all. Greg Henry ( Falmouth hotel manager) and Jason Parry (our Group Operation Manager) put on their Lou and Andy sketch from Little Britain which had us all rolling in the isles. A casino and disco had also been arranged and the night went on well into the early hours. Everyone had a fantasic time and as always it was a great to meet up with fellow colleagues. My team is still talking about the evening now!!

It sort of sounds like a bad "Office" party to us. As for the rest of the blog, there's a lot of information about Cornwall such as where to park, ferry and car services and beaches to visit. The hotel news is scarce except to announce any events going on at the hotel. Overall it's a tad ho-hum but still, A for effort.

Then there's the News at Garbe blog about the goings on at the Hotel Garbe in Algrave, Portugal. This blog does the same as Fowley in that it offers up useful surrounding area information and talks about events at the hotel, some with pictures.

But on the blog's Index Page they list "Reviews and Comments from our Guests". Of course, these are all oustanding reviews including one guest's poem submission, entiteld Ode to "The Garbe." Still these blogs are a bit more informative than a standard hotel web site and you get to hear and see more of the hotel in real time rather than judge late 1980's marketing photos on the internet.

Our only question is how come it seems to be only international hotels that are blogging? Why can't someone start blogging (from the hotel's perspective) about the Chateau Marmont or even the downward spiral of Six Columbus? But on the other hand, we guess that's what we're here for.
