Good Rate/Bad Rate: New Year's Eve in San Francisco

December 13, 2006 at 12:57 PM | 0 Comments

We didn't get to Good Rate/Bad Rate yesterday so we decided to give you 2 for 1 here with our picks for New Year's Eve in case you're looking to ring in the New Year in NorCal rather than SoCal.

We present you with two choices: The Sofitel San Francisco Bay or the W Hotel San Francisco.

First the bad. The Sofitel has put together a "Blast into 2007" package, available only one night on Dec. 31. Included is a superior room for two and a New Year's Brunch Buffet for two at the price of $199 per room. Unfortnately, you're on your own as far as parties go. Also, don't let the name fool you. The hotel is not actually in San Francisco proper but rather Silicon Valley. So if you need to party with the in-crowd venture capitalists but can't afford the Four Seasons, this might be your best bet.

Meanwhile, over at the W, actually located in San Francisco, they are offering a Wrap Up the Year in W Style, which is essentially a shopping package available through Dec. 31. What's included is a $50 Bloomingdale's gift card (to use at the brand new SF store), a $50 gift card to W Hotels The Store, a limited edition W Gift Wrap Set, a Bloomie's Tote Bag, two Wraptinis and of course, "a room you will love." Prices start at $279.

So what do you think? $200 for a room at the Sofitel in Silicon Valley or $279 for a room at the W San Fran with a  bunch of goodies. Sorry Sofitel, Redwood City won't cut it on New Year's Eve with us.
