What the Raleigh Hotel Has in Store for Art Basel

Update: We just got this email:

I am the communications director for Deitch Projects and I just received the listing on your website for an event that we are hosting with the Raleigh Hotel for Art Basel Miami Beach. This event is not a public event it is by special invitation only. I would appreciate it if you removed this posting from your website as soon as possible.

Hmm. It isn't a "listing", we are just telling folks what is going on at the Raleigh. So don't show up unless you have a special invitation. Guess that is the message here.

The Raleigh Hotel is hosting its own slew of Art Basel parties, starting with a performance by Deitch Projects' Devendrah Banhart & First Woman Millionaire on Dec. 6 with cocktails starting at 10pm.

Then on Dec. 8 in the hotel's Oasis, Andre Balazs will be on hand for the reception and book signing by author Jack Pierson and his latest mongraph Jack Pierson Desire/Despair. Lastly, a screening of "Andy Warhol: A Documentary Film", will be held on Dec. 9 at 9 p.m. by the Artists Den with a special appearance by the new band Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah.

And throughout the week, the Raleigh Hotel will be hosting the Visionaire Coloring Bar directly in front of the hotel's entrance, where guests can "hang out, listen to music and enjoy cotton candy snowcanes." You can also buy the Visionaire 50th issue and a Coloring Toy set in case all the Art Basel art inspires you to create your own. The Coloring Bar opens Tuesday  Dec. 5th at 10 a.m. and ends Saturday Dec. 9th.
