NewYorkology headed on over to the just-opened but not quite finished London NYC hotel on 54th St. between Sixth and Seventh avenues.

If you travel with a hard hat and don't mind spending $799 on one of the hotel's smaller rooms, (the $699 special rate was unavailable) then book your stay now.

The hotel's posh transformation from the RIHGA Royal Hotel isn't yet ready for anyone not outfitted with sturdy shoes. At the hotel this morning, the lobby was completely closed except for a cord-strewn curtained walkway that led to the elevators -- mind the ladders partially blocking the lift -- needed to reach the second-floor check in and concierge desk.

Also not open? The much-hyped restaurant from chef Gordon Ramsay and his casual London Bar. Sometimes, staying at a hotel during its soft-opening phase isn't the best idea.

My father and I stayed during the construction process...There was no lobby at the time (well there was, but it was temporary)...but the room was fantastic...and there were bathroom doors to contradict the other remarks.

To add to that, our nightly rate was $479.00 for a London Suite. We stayed in early October (before this article was posted). Not to mention that the construction was blocked off.

We visited the hotel again in January to eat at Gordon Ramsay's Bar, and the finished product was spectacular...we have made reservations for our next trip, however the price is about $100.00 higher for the same room, but it is apparently a busy season.
