Over in Western Australia--that's actually the biggest state of Australia, but usually the least visited, since it's so far from everywhere--they've been giving out their annual hotel awards for excellence.

The Australian Hotel Association award results give us some good tips on where to stay in gorgeous capital city Perth, with the casino-side Holiday Inn Burswood winning the Superior Accommodation Award (go figure) and the downtown Duxton Hotel (pictured here with a little too much brown decor for our tastes) taking out the award for Five Star Accommodation. Out in the country, far north Broome's Cable Beach Club Resort took the prize for Best Regional Accommodation.

Bars and pubs also featured in the prize-giving ceremony with awards for the best bartenders and administrators as well as a couple of interesting-sounding gongs: the Safe Cellar Award, which sounds like employees don safety boots and helmets to fetch wine from the cellar, and the Responsible Service of Alcohol Award, when the customer is not always right: "No way can you have another beer! Get out of here!"
