The Ultimate Eco-Lodge is Called Eco-Lodge

There are eco-lodges and then there are eco-lodges. And then there are the most environmentally sound places to stay in the world. London's Times wrote up the straightforwardly-named Eco-Lodge this week, introducing us to possibilities for environmentally-friendly features that would never occur to the average accommodation provider.

The Eco-Lodge in the East Midlands of England is the brainchild of one Brit (and the product of a shot of funding from the European Union) whose motto is to "recycle the unrecyclable". This means, for example, that the windmill that provides the electricity to power the lights is actually made from junk metal. Rainwater is collected in a tank and when guests want to "download" some water to their own smaller tank for washing or flushing the toilet, it's a matter of pushing a button and holding it for a long five minutes. As the Times reviewer said, that teaches you not to use too much of it.

A stay at the Eco-Lodge is really only about relaxing and getting away from it all. Rates start at £160. 00 + £5 per person but be warned: there's no TV.
