Le Royal Tahitien May Be Kitsch But We Don't Care

The heatwaves here on the mainland are just about over so we're looking into other options, you know like Tahiti. High season is about to hit these beautiful islands so checking out the hotels now is not at all too early.
The Royal Tahitien is just outside of Papeete on old royal grounds. There are 40 rooms, a restaurant and bar overlooking the ocean, and a hot tub big enough to be a pool. So far so good and now a past guest review has us salivating for more:
Everything about it was gorgeous. The expansive grounds covered in lush tropical plants with the lily pad covered stream running through it. The waterfall tumbling into the pool. The ambient restaurant with great food. The imposing reception area with carved support beams.
The staff were so friendly and professional. They could not have been more helpful nor accommodating. They went out of their way for us.
The location too was great. It was tucked into a little suburb and you would never have guessed that this magnificent hotel could be found there
On the other side of the reviews however, some people found the place a little stuck in the 1950s kitsch style and others were annoyed at the ride in "Le Truck" to get to Papeete. Plus as expected, nothing concerning WiFi or other technology is mentioned on the whole site. But need we remind you that this is Tahiti and who really cares? This is one of the few places on earth where we don't really care about our bed's duvet so long as it's clean.
