Maritime East May Officially Be Called The Bowery Hotel

Where: Bowery and East Third [map], New York, ny, United States

Lately we've been reporting on the Maritime East--the new hotel from Maritime owners Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode to be built on Bowery and East 3rd (See Google Earth image above.) Today, a tipster lets us know that the hotel's official name will be The Bowery Hotel.

With a "classic hip" decor that includes lots of exposed brick, dark woods and a supposedly helpful staff, our tipster thinks this place will be the next big NYC hotel.

It will be a hit if it ever opens because the staff should be the best of the best from the NYC boutique hotel world, including former Gansevoort and Maritime staffers(despite what you may have heard or think, and there are some exceptions but some hip hotel actually hire hospitality professionals not just wanna be actors). It has some great views and terraces, the bar looks pretty cool and if it goes as planned it will have two restaurants, one Italian and one Japanese.

However, the hotel has fallen victim to a little bit of Hotel Hype as it was supposed to open back in August but is now slated for a December or January opening.

Got any more tips/thoughts on The Bowery Hotel? Let us know.
