The Peninsula and Four Seasons Help Chicago Shut Out the Nation's Restaurant Competition

Ahh Chicago, that tottlin' town. They sure do know how to eat. Maybe that's why the city grabbed seven spots on the Best Restaurants in the Nation list and three five-diamond awards went out to hotel restaurants.
Three Chicago hotels also received the five-diamond award for excellence - the Peninsula, the Four Seasons, and the Ritz-Carlton
(Note: The Four Seasons also operates the Ritz-Carlton. Talk about branding confusion.)
This score sheet beats out any other U.S. city by a long shot. Particularly touted was Avenues in the Peninsula (pictured above) headed by chef Graham Elliot Bowles who is one of Food & Wine Magazine's 2004 Best New Chefs. What's his magic? He highlights food's natural flavors, not following the fusion trend of combining every spice from the globe to produce an impressive jumbling of word combinations.
So if you're already on the Midwest bandwagon and know how to eat a Midwestern meal in the surroundings of class (i.e. no bibs with your hearty steak) or if you want to join up, then these are the Windy City restaurants for you.
