Reese and Ryan May Have Called It Quits at the Soho Grand

Of course, a marriage like that of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe doesn't simply end overnight. These types of breakups tend to be the result of years of festering anger at the other spouse's behavior (he likes to party too much and was wasted at the Oscar awards earlier this year; she is apparently a Type-A anal type) that finally burst open, unleashing all sorts of ugliness.
But Roger Friedman of Fox News gossip thinks he may have witnessed the final moments of the couple's marriage while at an after-premiere party for Ryan's new movie, "Flags of Our Fathers" at Manhattan's Soho Grand.
The couple went out on the roof terrace and had a knock-down, drag-out fight. It looked like something from "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"
My line of vision was partially blocked by a big exhaust pipe, so at different times during the fight they were obscured. But then Ryan would appear, disgusted, on one side of it, and Reese on the other. Suddenly, Reese stormed back inside, crossed past me and headed for the elevator. Ryan followed in hot pursuit. Thus, their security guards assigned for the night went running after them, thinking that they were leaving.
Friedman went on to say that the pair returned to the party, mostly to make nice in front of Ryan's family.
We are not sure if the Soho Grand is the place for celebrities to be these days. A brown-shirted actor may have been spied doing lines at the bar, a steam heater may have exploded on a director and now marital hell may have reached a boil at the penthouse suite.
Maybe they need to think about incorporating some feng shui into their newly designed rooms?
