Even Eco-Hotels Suffer From Hotel Hype

The Orchard Garden in San Francisco is the newest urban eco-hotel to open. Except it hasn't opened yet.
We've been hearing a lot of hype about this hotel for months but when we gave them a call to ask if the October opening was still legit, the receptionist said it wouldn't be open until Mid-November. And as for an exact date, she wasn't sure. This is the second time the hotel's opening date has been pushed back.
Nevertheless, when and if the hotel opens, giving back to the earth will be so...comfortable. All rooms were designed by Architecture International and in natural tones. The beds feature 100% Egyptian cotton linens and plenty of down pillows (fear not sneezy ones, there is a pillow menu at concierge), LCD TV and DVD/CD player, in-room WiFi, bath robes, and Aveda products in the bathroom.
As for services, it's lacking a little right now. With the exception of the Town Car (it better be a hybrid), there's just a breakfast buffet included in the room rate and "a warm welcome" in the nightly turndown service. Whatever that is. Additionally, a restaurant and lounge is planned for the hotel at some point in time.
So apparently this isn't the place to go for extreme indulgence. Nevertheless, as we said it does look awfully damn comfy. Plus when it opens, the rooftop garden on the 10th floor will be a great place to look out at the scenic San Fran fog.
If you want the Orchard style and can't wait until November visit its sister property, The Orchard Hotel.
